Six on Saturday

As the days get longer, albeit a minute per day, I’m forever scanning the garden for new shoots, welcoming re-emerging plants and hoping that I’ll see others that so far elude me.

The viburnum is flowering nicely but the leaves are like lace curtains.  Any suggestions?

Winter Jasmine flowering its heart out

The Flowering Blackcurrant is about to show its colours a little earlier than usual

The variegated Vinca is bright and cheerful although its flowers are insignificant

On a visit to Temple Newsam Park, I saw the Rhodedendrons with big fat buds.  There are whole colourful avenues of them from late Spring

….. and this is the greenhouse on the same day with its climbing geraniums

The Propagator generously hosts Six on Saturday.  Click on the link to his blog to see what he and his followers are growing and doing in their gardens this week.

  1. That greenhouse at Temple Newsom looks like the perfect place to visit. I'm a sucker for a nice glasshouse.

  2. I see early flowers and big fat buds on trees and shrubs, but it worries me; winter is far from over, and I'm afraid it will all die when frost, snow and ice arrive eventually.

    1. Fingers crossed the winter won't be too bad, however I've lost more plants in hot summers than frosty winters. Maybe it's time to make some changes.

  3. Just love those rhododendron buds. What colours can we expect from them?

  4. I don't know what's eating your viburnum, but suspect it's a relative of whatever's eating ting holes in some of my plants.
