In these days of worry and uncertainly, how lucky are we who have gardens? As Hockney says, “Do remember they can’t cancel Spring”.
1. The great performer Bowles Mauve |
2.
Marsh Marigolds ready to pop by
the pond
3. Cheerful display of Polyanthus down
the drive, which I raised from seed many, many years ago
4. Jaunty Pansies which were
planted in October
|
5. Daffodils Thalia which once won
me a prize at my gardening club’s Mini Flower Show, which had to be cancelled
this week
|
6. Ajuga with its shiny dark red leaves |
Stay well everyone.
Indeed, nobody can cancel spring!! Although some years it felt as if we were going straight from icy rain and wintery temperatures to the hottest dusty summer.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful, and you are so right; anyone who has a garden or even just a small balcony is more fortunate than those who have to endure cramped living quarters in a high rise.
Your Thalias are indeed prize worthy...and it is a shame that so many shows etc have been deferred most probably till next year now. Our West of England daff show is off too...but luckily for us gardeners we can Keep Calm and Garden on....
ReplyDeleteThalia are one of my favourites, such a pure white. Love your Hockney quote, fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMarsh marigolds are sure pretty. I don't have the shade or dampness for them though.
ReplyDeleteKeep calm and garden on. That’s all we can do at the moment..
ReplyDeleteThalia is very pretty - I'm not surprised it's won your prizes. Our show is cancelled too. My alpine garden society group are probably going to hold a show via photographs so I may try and take from pictures later today.
ReplyDeleteGood idea, Katharine.
DeleteYou grew the Polyanthus from seed? They look much nicer than the ones usually for sale in the garden centres.
ReplyDeleteLove the marsh marigolds. The thalia are certainly show stoppers. What's the pink flower next to them?
