Good Days and Goodbyes

Good Days

Some lovely weather made a pleasant ending to summer at the coast.  A mini heat wave (for England) meant that we could enjoy a swim in the sea; I’d forgotten how invigorating it is.  Bank Holiday brought cooler temperatures but dry enough for our activities.

We walked over to a local church in the village which has been one of 16 projects shortlisted for the finals of the English Heritage Angel Awards, backed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, in October this year.
The size of the congregation at St Andrews is currently just ten; up to a couple of years ago it remained unused as the building had fallen into such disrepair.   This small group managed to raise sufficient funds and carry out maintenance work to reopen the building.
Even the church clock chimes on time.
Goodbyes
Sadly I said goodbye to my good friend Maureen, who passed away just a year after her diagnosis.  She never complained about her suffering.
Just an ordinary lady, she never said a bad word about anyone (except right wing politicians), she was very generous and carried out many charitable deeds very quietly and her funeral was attended by many people whose lives she had touched.
I will miss her wicked sense of humour, as someone to confide in, exchanging books, discussing The Archers and our monthly “meetings”.
Shalom dear friend.  Eshet Chayil.
